Senator Marco Rubio has endorsed Jeff Johnson to be the next governor of Minnesota.
"I've long admired Marco Rubio," said Johnson. "He holds and champions conservative values but shares those values in a way that inspires Americans who might not consider themselves Republican. It's that ability that carried him to a caucus victory in Minnesota and I'm honored to have his support."
Senator Rubio won last year's Minnesota Presidential Caucus by 7.5 percent. The Senator's full statement is below:
I’m thrilled to announce today that I am endorsing Jeff Johnson to be the next Governor of Minnesota.
I got to know Jeff during the 2016 Presidential Campaign and there are a few key reasons he will be a great Republican nominee and, more importantly, a great governor.
First, Jeff is a man of strong character who is in this race for the right reasons--to be a servant of the people. Like me, he is guided by his strong faith and has the humility that comes from it. And, without question, his background has prepared him to lead on Day One.
Jeff is also a tested conservative who trusts people more than government. Both at the federal and state level, this is the right way forward.
Lastly, politics is an arena of ideas, and all across the country Republicans need people who can put forward an optimistic message with real solutions and communicate them in a way that persuades others and grows our movement.
Jeff is part of a group of next-generation conservatives around our country who are successfully offering new, bold policies that are making people’s lives better.
For all these reasons, I know Jeff is the right person to represent the Republican Party next November, that he will win the general election, and that he can lead Minnesota in a better direction by empowering people. Republicans in Minnesota are extremely close to breaking through statewide, and with Jeff Johnson as the nominee, I believe they will.
